SULTAN AHMET MOSQUE (THE BLUE MOSQUE)
The architect was a student of Sinan, the greatest architect of classical
Turkish architecture. Ottoman sultans prayed at this exceptional monument
for 300 years. Blue Mosque name given by Europeans comes from the blue Iznik
tiles decorating its walls.
Since the mosque is open for prayers, visitors are allowed to enter from
north door only.
